So, how about actually doing a real upgrade with the updater, or having it ask WHERE IS VMware Fusion -OR- simply do a find and locate the old VMware Fusion, and if it finds more than one, ask or just let us know it's going to drop it in /Applications without actually trying to update or find the old version? Even Microsoft gets this one right with its Office updaters. Follow the download button to get to the official Fusion download tool. Reinstall the latest version of Fusion that you can find in our review. Manually uninstall VMware (to delete all VMware related files). Reinstall the official VMware version (and run First Aid) Reboot your Mac. ![]() This is as bad as McAfee refusing to do updates b/c their updater hard-coded the path of Virex instead of running it's updates relatively from "./" - you guys are smarter than that (and no one uses Virex anymore anyway)!!! Cannot find a valid peer process to connect VMware on macOS. Once we moved out v1.0 and moved the new version into our VMware Fusion folder, it worked fine. The new version is simply dumped into /Applications proper. When we launched the VMware Fusion icon in the dock, it was still launching v1.0 inside the /Applications/VMware Fusion/ folder. But when I try to run it, it displays following msg and stops. However, we have a load of VMs, so all of the VMware Fusion stuff is in its own VMware Fusion folder in /Applications, along with the shared directory and a folder of VMs. Just installed Fusion 10.1.1 for Intel-Based Mac (iMac) for the second time with no errors. Instead, it simply drops its new version in /Applications and must update other support files. ![]() The updater does NOT look for or FIND the existing VMware Fusion.app.
